Miami Vices: Carnival 2012
Winter Carnival is a seven day, seven night competition that takes place at the beginning of every winter semester. With annual participation of over 500 students, Carnival is one of MUS's largest events.
Students organize themselves into teams of 50 to 70, with 3 to 4 team captains. Teams then compete throughout the week in a variety of activities, such as scavenger hunts, walking rallies, laser tag, iron chef, dodge ball and eating contests. Spirit points are extremely important – teams are encouraged to come up with original cheers, dances and skits. You don't even have to wait until January! Carnival Hype Week will take place in early November to get everyone pumped for the main event.
Carnival is not for the faint-hearted. It tests your stamina, endurance, speed and ability to go without sleep for long periods of time. It is also one of the best times that you will ever have in your life! The friendships that you make during Carnival become lasting friendships. When you reflect on your life 50 years from now, you will feel a great sense of accomplishment in saying
"I participated in Management Carnival."
If you are in first year and have no idea what we're talking about, join a team or create your own. If you have never participated in Carnival before, but would like to give it a try, sign up as a "free agent" and you will be placed on a team of like-minded individuals.
If you've done Carnival before, or to phrase it more accurately, Carnival has done you, don't worry – January will come soon enough. In the meantime, get those creative juices flowing. Plus, Hype Week will be here soon.
There are plenty of teams out there looking for free agents. Alternatively, you can form your own team with 3 – 4 captains and start recruiting!
