The Management Undergraduate Society had a fairly eventful fall semester. There was Frosh, AVICII, GCC, U2CC, Mass Tutorials, 4a7, HR Symposium, Hype Week, CASCO and many more successful events.
Perhaps the biggest news from the end of this semester is that the MUNACA strike is over. This should mean fewer disruptions on campus and improved student services in the second half of the year.
The Survey Task Force, a new MUS initiative this year, provided valuable information for our events and operations. In the fall semester, surveys were created for 4a7, Course Evaluations, Mass Tutorials, Dave’s Store, and Sinfully Asian. Results and analysis can be found at in the Surveys section of the site (see the bottom of this post for link).
We have also made efforts to improve the first year experience by introducing the Street Team, a group of first year students who promote MUS events and involvement opportunities to their classmates. They also act as our First Year Council, which gives us valuable feedback on how everything from Frosh to first year courses can be improved.
The opening of the Business Intelligence Centre on the second floor of the Bronfman building will provide much needed space for our students in the winter semester. It will contain many discussion rooms, extra tables in open study space and large area for quiet study. The MUS is truly excited for the unveiling ceremony on January 18th and to move into our new office in room 228 soon thereafter.
The year 2011 has seen great change for the MUS. We completely re-structured our governance structure and implemented many changes to our operations. There have certainly been challenges along the way, but I am proud to say that any setbacks have been greatly outshone by our successes. I am confident that 2012 will continue this growth and improvement.
We now begin the search for the next generation of student leaders within the Desautels Faculty of Management. I strongly encourage everyone reading this to attend our Elections Information Session in the first week of classes and begin thinking about their involvement within the Management Undergraduate Society. We wish you all the best in 2012!
