Welcome Back All!
The first few weeks of school have been absolutely nuts - between JDC, Carnival, and DBCS, the weeks have sure flown by!
I have some big congrats to throw out! Our JDC team kicked serious butt this year and brought home 7 podiums - the best to date! Secondly, congratulations to Marie-Louise, our VP Engagement for an extremely successful Carnival. If you see Co-Chairs, J.P. Briggs or Alexander (Bamber) Sunell roaming the halls of Bronfman, be sure to give them a big thank-you! These boys and their team spent countless hours ensuring that Carnival 2012 was an absolute success. Also, congrats Sarah Burrows and Laura Miller who put on a fantastic Cancer Auction - the committee was able to raise almost $20,000! A truly outstanding accomplishment!
This past week I also had the privilege of hearing Craig Keilburger speak about his Free the Children and Me to We initiatives at the Desautels Business Conference on Sustainability. Not only is he an amazing speaker, but his story is even more inspirational. To catch a glimpse of what I am talking about, check out one of his speeches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJcAaekWgqY.
This semester is sure to bring some more amazing events for BCom students. The First Year Street Team has a couple of things rolled up their sleeve designed specifically for first-year students. Be sure to check out the MUS website often to find out what those are!
Also, if you feel as if you haven't been pestered enough about this, those who still have not had their graduation photos taken please do ASAP! This is for students who have graduated Fall 2011 or are graduating Spring 2012. This year, if you have your photo taken, you receive a FREE Jostens' yearbook (the Widget) that captures all of the amazing events and initiatives that have happened this past year.
Lastly, BIG shout out to my home-girl Alyson Murphy and her BOD team for the start-up of the MUS Case League! This group is bound to make Desautels BCom students more competitive in case competitions!
As usual, if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to stop by the MUS office (which is now on the 2nd floor!! - we are at the back so make a couple of rounds to find us) or simply shoot me an email at comm.mus@mail.mcgill.ca
Have a terrific semester everyone!
Best,
RB.
